African SMEs are the backbone of local economies. Yet too often, they are held back by a lack of financing, guidance, and a supportive network. At OVO, we believe that lasting change is only possible when we strengthen both entrepreneurs and the local economic fabric.
The dual approach
Our approach works on two levels:
- Micro: direct support to SMEs through intensive coaching, training, and access to capital.
- Meso: strengthening the local economic network by working with incubators, educational institutions, NGOs, and governments. Because an entrepreneur can only grow sustainably in an environment where markets are accessible, rules are entrepreneur-friendly, and collaboration is the norm.
Collaboration as the key
This is possible thanks to Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (MSPs). Local partners know the context and build trust; international partners bring funding and expertise. OVO connects these players, so all parts come together into one strong whole.
OVO aligned with the African Venture Philanthropy Alliance (AVPA)
The recent AVPA report on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships confirms what OVO has been putting into practice for years: sustainable change in Africa cannot come from one actor or one approach alone. Collaboration between businesses, governments, NGOs, investors, and communities is the key to strengthening the local economic fabric and giving entrepreneurs the space they need to grow.
