In the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali Food is making strong progress. Under the leadership of Aziza Saidi Olivia and her team, the young company has launched an innovative food product: a nutritious cereal blend made from locally grown soybeans. Mali Food’s mission goes beyond offering a healthy product; it aims to contribute to the fight against malnutrition and unhealthy eating habits in the region.
From the start, Mali Food chose to work with local farmers. By processing locally grown soybean flowers, the company reduces dependence on imports and strengthens the Congolese agricultural sector. Mali Food also makes a strong social impact: the company provides employment opportunities for young people and single mothers, while actively promoting social inclusion within its team.
Thanks to a €10,000 grant, partly made possible by OVO, Mali Food recently invested in new production machinery. Once production resumes, capacity is expected to reach 500 kilograms per day. This will not only meet current demand — currently 500 kilograms per month — but also allow the company to expand further, targeting both individual consumers and distribution partners such as supermarkets.
